The walk from East Croydon train station will take approximately
20 minutes, depending on the person walking. However, its
a fairly easy walk which consists of two straight roads.
Come out of the station onto St. Georges Road and turn
right, walk to the bottom of this road, you will find that
you had to cross-over one set of traffic lights and a roundabout.
At the bottom of the road you will find the start of Croydon
shopping centre on your right, turn away from the shopping
centre and turn left going towards the Post Office, you
are now walking along the High Street. You have approximately
500 to 600 yard walk to Leon House crossing several small
roads, you will also walk underneath the Croydon flyover.
You will find Leon House on the left-hand side of the High
Street opposite a public house.
Otherwise you can hail a cab, which again will take you
10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic volume. At the station
you will find a taxi rank, just hail a cab from there. The
cost should not be more than £3.00.
Travelling by Road
From the M25
Leave the motorway at the M25 junction 7 and head towards
Croydon and London. The motorway will end and the road becomes
the A23. Follow the A23 until you arrive at the large roundabout
at Purley (there is a large Tesco store on the right as you
approach). At the roundabout take the road straight ahead
marked as the A235 for Croydon. Stay on the A235 for around
2-3 miles. You will eventually pass a tall building on your
right marked Leon House. The Croydon Flyover will now be around
300 metres ahead. Pass under the flyover and turn left immediately
into Whitgift Street. Proceed to the T-junction and turn left
into Wandle Street. A landmark 50 yards away from the centre
is Croydon library and clock tower. If asking for directions
you should use this to identify where you wish to go. The
public car park now on your left will cost around £4.00 per
day (long-stay only). Leon House car park is for staff only.
Note: due to construction work in the centre of Croydon
delays of half an hour can be added to your travelling time
if using road transport. An alternative would be to walk from
the station as it only takes 10 minutes without any delay.
